The Men Who Made the Comics: The History of the Comic Book Industry in America

The Men Who Made the Comics is the story about an industry that changed the face of America culture, told as much as possible through the words of the artists, writers, and editors who were actually there. I touch only lightly upon the four color characters that appeared in newsprint while revealing heretofore unknown (to the general public) details of how the comic book business came into being; the real life characters behind the creations and what actually took place between them. The winners; the losers; the behind the scenes intrigue; scams, and even influence from the American Mob; it's all here. I also straighten out misconceptions and explain the reasons why certain events took place the way they did, finally answering questions and discounting theorys that have been circulating for decades. It's a fascinating read for anyone interested in American culture.
