Laying Plans: A Historical Graphic Novel Inspired by Chapter I of The Art of War

War is approaching. The court demands immediate action. General Jian refuses to march blindly. Across the frontier, Lord Wei has built a vast camp of fire, soldiers, and threatening banners. Yet appearances can conceal weakness. Before risking his army, Jian sends Captain Mei to read the weather, terrain, and enemy movements while logistics master Bo investigates a more dangerous question: is Jian's own army truly prepared? What they discover transforms the conflict. Victory may not depend on fighting harder, but on understanding the situation before the first order is given. Laying Plans is a cinematic historical graphic novel inspired by the strategic ideas of Chapter I of Sun Tzu's The Art of War. Through an original cast and fictional conflict set within an ancient Chinese world, it explores preparation, intelligence, leadership, logistics, deception, adaptability, and the human cost of command. This is Volume I of a thirteen-volume graphic-novel series-one volume for each chapter of The Art of War. The battle everyone expects may never need to begin.
